Systeme.io Review: Is the Free Plan Enough? (We Built a Waitlist)
In short
Yes, a SaaS waitlist with a welcome email works on the Systeme.io free plan, which costs $0 and needs no credit cardfact [2]. The video shows three gotchas: the sender address must be a confirmed address on your own domainfact [34], the default thank-you page appears if yours is not builtfact [37], and the welcome email arrived about 4 minutes after signupfact [36]. The limit that matters is 1 automation rule on the Free planfact [4].

Is the Systeme.io free plan really free?
Yes. According to the pricing page, the Free plan costs $0, never expires and does not require a credit cardfact [2]. It includes 2,000 contacts, 3 sales funnels, 1 blog, 1 course, 1 affiliate program and 1 custom domainfact [3].
Can I send a welcome email from my Gmail address on the free account?
No. On the free account, an automation email can only be sent from a confirmed address on your own domain, and the verified Gmail address of the account is not offered as a senderfact [34]. To confirm that address, Systeme.io emails a confirmation link to it, so the domain must already receive mailfact [35].
What is the main limit of the Systeme.io free plan for a waitlist?
The Free plan includes 1 automation rule and 1 email campaignfact [4]. In the video, the waitlist’s welcome email uses that one rule, and a second rule means moving to Startup, which lists 10 automation rulesfact [19].
How much do the paid Systeme.io plans cost?
Startup is $17/monthfact [5], Webinar is $47/monthfact [6] and Unlimited is $97/monthfact [7]. Annual billing gives 2 months freefact [9].
Does the welcome email arrive instantly after signup?
Not in the video’s test: the welcome email reached the inbox about 4 minutes after the signup, not instantlyfact [36]. The email is wired in the funnel step’s Automation Rules tab, with the trigger Funnel step form subscribed and the action Send emailfact [39].

Can you launch a waitlist for free? Play from 0:00
Can you launch a SaaS waitlist on the Systeme.io free plan? Yes. We built one, signed up with a real address, and the welcome email landed.
The free plan costs $0 and needs no credit cardfact [2]. But there are three gotchas the pricing page never mentions, and one limit that decides the day you start paying. This Systeme.io review walks you through them one by one.
One funnel, one page Play from 0:20
We started with a funnel called SaaS waitlist. One page, one email field, one button. Nothing clever, and that’s the point.
The page itself is simple. The part to prepare comes before you open the editor.
The link is right under the video if you want to try Systeme.io yourself. The free plan needs no credit cardfact [2].
The sender trap Play from 0:42
Here is gotcha number one. On the free account, an automation email can only be sent from a confirmed address on your own domainfact [34].
The verified Gmail address of your account is simply not offered as a senderfact [34]. So you can’t just use the address you signed up with.
To confirm that address, Systeme.io emails a confirmation link to itfact [35]. So your domain must already receive mail, through an inbox or a forwarding servicefact [35].
The right order: set up mail on your domain first, then build the funnel. Do it the other way round and you’ll be stuck halfway through.
One rule, a real signup, real surprises Play from 1:11
The welcome email is wired in the funnel step’s Automation Rules tabfact [39]. The trigger is Funnel step form subscribed, and the action is Send emailfact [39].
That’s the whole mechanism.
Gotcha number two. If the funnel’s thank-you page isn’t built, a new signup lands on a default page saying a thank you page was not definedfact [37].
Your first visitor would see an error-looking screen. Build that page before you share the URL.
Gotcha number three. In this test, the welcome email reached the inbox about 4 minutes after the signup, not instantlyfact [36].
So don’t conclude too fast that the rule is broken. Wait a few minutes before you start debugging.
And a small thing we noticed. Emails sent from the free account end with a Sent with Systeme.io link that carries the sender’s own affiliate IDfact [38].
If this saved you an hour, a like and a comment help a lot. Subscribing supports a channel that’s just getting started.
The limit that makes you pay Play from 2:05
Now the limit that matters. On the Free plan you get 1 automation rule and 1 email campaignfact [4].
Workflows follow the same pattern: Free has 1, Startup has 5fact [24]. Our waitlist just used the rule.
That’s enough for a welcome email. A second rule means moving to Startup, which gives 10fact [19].
The link is in the description, and the free plan is the way to see this limit for yourself.
What it costs Play from 2:27
Startup is $17/month, with 10 funnels, 5 courses, 10 automation rules and 5,000 contactsfact [5]fact [19].
Webinar is $47/month and adds evergreen webinarsfact [6]. Unlimited is $97/monthfact [7].
Annual billing gives 2 months freefact [9]. If you cancel, you keep your plan until the next billing date, then the account reverts to Freefact [14].
The link is right under the video, and nothing is charged to startfact [2].
Systeme.io review: verdict Play from 2:50
Verdict: yes, a waitlist with a welcome email works on the free plan. For a solo founder at launch, that’s the whole job.
It’s not for you if you need email sequences from day one, or webinars: evergreen webinars start at the Webinar planfact [6]fact [28].
Systeme.io is worth it if your domain already receives mail. The link is in the description, free plan, no credit card.
